Milkfund
Anna Melissa Neitzel, Molly’s little sister, was extraordinarily generous and just so happened to love milk. She passed away in 2009. In 2011, we created the Anna Banana Milk Fund to honor her memory — by providing fresh milk and other most-needed resources to families in need every week. Fresh dairy products like milk, yogurt and cheese are rarely available at food banks, but over the past 15 years, the Anna Banana Milk Fund has raised over $600,000 to support food banks.
We started the Milk Fund in partnership with FamilyWorks Food Bank across the street from our original Wallingford shop, but have since built partnerships with food banks in every neighborhood where we have a scoop shop. In 2018, our Anna Banana Milk Fund became an official nonprofit organization. We can now raise even more money each year to give to food banks in our neighborhoods.
Our neighborhood scoop shop food bank partnerships are:
- Wallingford — FamilyWorks
- Capitol Hill & Madrona — Jewish Family Service
- Queen Anne — Queen Anne Food Bank
- Columbia City — Rainier Valley Food Bank
- U Village — University District Food Bank
- Redmond & Bellevue — Hopelink
- Edmonds — Edmonds Food Bank
- West Seattle — West Seattle Food Bank
- Waterfront — Union Gospel Mission Food Bank
Our employees lead the way in contributing to the Anna Banana Milk Fund. Most members of our Moon Crew donate $5-25 from every paycheck to the Milk Fund. Molly Moon's matches employee giving, and then some. Our generous mooncrew giving adds up to over $10,000 annually!
A donation of just $10 a month provides all the milk a family needs each week. We invite you to join us, whether it’s a monthly contribution or just a one-time donation, you can help make a difference in the lives of people who need a little extra help. Anna would be so proud.
